The 10th Wigan Company has an unrivalled tradition of taking part in the annual "walk of witness" in Conjunction
with St Nathaniel's Church Platt Bridge. Besides catering for the practical side ie providing a band to walk along
to, the BB members swelled the ranks to almost 80 officers and boys in the halcyon days. This page is dedicated to
the tradition, memory, christian witness and pure nostalgia of "Walking Days Past". The page will also attempt to
include a little "human interest" captions to compliment the pictures. The page will expand as the weeks
go on.

Pictured here is my brother...Dennis (circa 1960) who's BB membership was all too brief! He dropped out because he could not
march in the figure of 8 during figure marching! Try as he might Bob Busby could not get our Dennis to master it...so he left
to frequent Platt Bridge Billiard Hall!

In this piccy from 1986 Captain Jones steps out with his Company on yet another Walking Day. In the background is a very young
Phil Summers...now doing a Phd in Robotics at Aberystwith University! Check out the shop in the back ground...which butcher
ran it for years and years?

This two pictures date back to 1993 and were taken in...yes you've guessed it Tram Street. Keen eyed people will have already
spotted the Catholic Club in the background just after it had been rebuilt after the fire.

These 3 pictures are of proud former Drum Major Jack Grundy. Jack, (pictured below on Walking Day 1949) currently lives in
Bamfurlong, but until 1960 lived in Bank Street Platt Bridge. Jack still has fond memories of his days in the Company and
his brother Bill was in the first ever Company in 1931. Jack, recently celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary and we wish
you and your lady wife Evelyn good health and God Bless for many more years to come. Jack and Evelyn are also featured on
their 50th Anniversary in the colour photo courtesy of The Wigan Observer. Jack and Evelyn still take part in Walking Day...but
as spectators from their Bamfurlong Bungalow!

There's SO many people on this picture! Who can you spot? I clocked Phil Summers, "TJ" Titley, Warren Goldsmith,
Neil Bailey, Tim Woosey and just sneaking on...Jack Pugh. Tell me why the YELLOW SASH? I can't work that one out at all! Can
you?

A bit of a puzzle for you with this photo! Although the Band is on parade this is not at Walking Day. The big hotel in the
background gives it away really. Come all you who were there...where were we and why? By way of a clue the year was 1986.
